Brookside is a mixed-use neighborhood in the southwestern corner of the Greater Wilksire / Hancock Park district of Los Angeles, California. The community is located between Wilshire Boulevard to the north and W Olympic Boulevard to the south. The western edge of the suburb are homes along S Highland Avenue, while the eastern borders are homes along Fremont Place. Although mostly residential, the northern section of Brookside along Wilshire Boulevard is lined mostly by commercial properties. Fremont Place occupies the eastern side of the neighborhood. Fremont Place is a historic gated community known for its iconic white pillar entrance. Other notable locations in the suburb include LA High Memorial Park, conveniently located to the north of the Los Angeles High School. This park features beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces and kid-friendly areas that are perfect to visit for a fun time outside with the kids.
Homes in Brookside are comprised primarily of single-family homes in its western and central sections and lavish luxury homes in Fremont Place. There are 400 individual housing units in Brookside, most of which were developed in the 1920s by Rimpau Estate Co. Custom builds replacing these older home builds are also available in the community. These properties usually have single-floor builds with open-floor or bungalow-type layouts that feature three to four bedrooms and one or two baths. Architectural styles in the community include Spanish, Stucco, Craftsman, Colonial, Contemporary, Cottage, Tudor, and Victorian. Property prices for houses in the area range between $1.7 million to $3 million for standard single-family homes and $5 million to $10 million for the luxury homes in Fremont Place.
